Kelly Callaghan (M.A.P.S)

Kelly is a Fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists and a Fellow of the College of Educational and Developmental psychologist. She has over 20 years of experience working with children and adults and is also trained in cognitive and educational assessment and diagnosis of learning problems. Kelly provides supervision to psychologists who are in training as well as training and workshops for teachers.

Kelly recognises the stressors that come from a world of changing times and increasing work and family demands and the need for coping strategies for thinking, emotions and behaviour. Her preferred methods of therapy are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These are proven and evidence based strategies for assisting in the management of a number of common mental health and social problems.

Registered Psychologist

Tim is a registered psychologist, member of the Australian Psychological Society and careers counsellor who graduated from James Cook University in 1992. Tim is experienced in the assessment and treatment of a range of mental health disorders and works with children, adolescents and adults.

Tim has developed a sound reputation in working with adolescent boys and men in developing emotional resilience. He recently trained in neurotherapy which is a means of retraining the brain and switching on new neural pathways.

Tim has spent most of his working life with adolescents and university students which has led to a keen interest and qualifications in career counselling and career design. He also enjoys assisting clients to identify their values and to develop their life goals accordingly.

Tim prefers to work using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Neuro-therapy, psycho-education and problem solving strategies.

Clinical Psychologist

Tara is an Endorsed Clinical Psychologist whose qualifications include a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and Master of Psychology (Clinical). She is trained in the Circle of Security Parenting Program which is an early intervention program which aims to strengthen the relationship and enhance attachment between parents/caregivers and their children.

Tara offers evidence based treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. She works from a person centred approach, by working collaboratively with clients to offer individualized treatment suited to their strengths and needs.

Tara has a special interest in working with children, adolescents and their families. She has experience delivering services to individuals across the life span and in small groups across mental health settings.

Provisionally Registered Psychologist

We look forward to welcoming Brad Thompson in February 2019 to Caloundra Psychological Services. Brad is a Provisionally Registered Psychologist who is completing his Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology. Brad has also completed a Bachelor of Social Science – Psychology (1st Class Honours) . He has experience working within community health, early intervention parenting support services, educational settings, children’s health centres, and private practice.

Brad understands that seeking help is often uncomfortable or avoided. This is why he adopts a relaxed and casual approach by working collaboratively with individuals to develop awareness, reflective capacities, and practical skills required to overcome challenges. He also implements a holistic approach to treatment by considering how individuals are impacted by external influences such as past or current relationships, traumas, schools or work settings, cultural practices and so on. Brad also has interests in adopting neurological, biological, and nutritional research into practice to help adults and children live their best lives.

Brad works with a wide range of mental health referrals for individuals of all ages, tailoring practical evidence-based treatment to best suit client needs. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Circle of Security and Triple-P parenting programs to name a few. He is also trained in conducting formal cognitive and learning assessments.
